If you didn't care, what happened to me And I didn't care, for you. We would zig-zag our way, through the boredom and pain Occasionally, glancing up from rain. Wondering which of the buggers to blame. And watching for Pigs On The Wing.

Go to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm to the farm and we’ll be free Go to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm and we will be free. We’re gonna feed chickens at the farm, We’re gonna milk cows, I’ll show you how. There’s lot to do at the farm, We’ll bale hay and lay in it all day. Go to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm to the farm and we’ll be free Go to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm and we will be free. Suns always shining on the farm, There’s no clouds, no reason to cry. Everything is beautiful on the farm, C’mon now, I will show you how. Go to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm to the farm and we’ll be free Go to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm and we will be free. Show you how to milk that cow, feed those chickens, walk that dog. It’s all the things that you do on the farm. Lot to do on the farm, we love the farm, C’mon honey, I wanna show you how to farm. Go to the farm. Go to the farm. Going to the farm, to the farm, to the farm with me, Go to the farm and we will be free Go to the farm. Go to the farm.

Arthur Knight, they call him The Bear Arthur Knight, he’s growing out his hair. He’s 65 but he don’t care, ‘Cause he’s Arthur Knight, they call him The Bear, some people stare. His mother says, “Art, get a haircut!” He says, “Fuck you mom, I’m growing it down to my butt!” ‘Cause I’m Arthur Knight and they call me The Bear. Well I’m growing out my hair. Well I’m 65 but I don’t care, ‘Cause I’m Arthur Knight, they call me The Bear, some people stare. Drew says, “Art don’t be coy…” “With hair like that or you a girl or a boy?” I said, “Fuck you Drew, ‘cause they call me The Bear. Mel said, “I urge you to cut it off” Hey Mel, what do you do when you cough?” ‘Cause I’m Arthur Knight and they call me The Bear, Well I’m growing out my hair. Well I’m 65 but I don’t care, ‘Cause I’m Arthur Knight, they call me The Bear, some people stare. They call me The Bear, And I’m growing out my hair, I’m 65 but I don’t care, ‘cause they call me The Bear, Some people stare, They call me The Bear, Some people stare.

Come and listen in to my radio station Where the host of heaven sings Turn your radio on, turn your radio on If you wanna hear the sounds of Zion Coming from the land of endless springs Get in touch with God, turn your radio on. Turn your radio on and listen to the music in the air Turn your radio on and glory to share. Turn your lights down low and listen to the master’s radio Get in touch with God, turn your radio on. Come and listen in to the glory-land chorus, Listen to the glad Hoseanna Rose. Turn your radio on, turn your radio on Get a little taste of joys awaiting, Get a little heaven in your soul Get in touch with God, turn your radio on. Turn your radio on and listen to the music in the air Turn your radio on and glory to share. Turn your lights down low and listen to the master’s radio Get in touch with God, turn your radio on. Listen to songs of the fathers and the mothers And the many friends gone on before Turn your radio on, turn your radio on Some eternal morning we shall meet them Over on the hallelujah shores Get in touch with God, turn your radio on. Turn your radio on and listen to the music in the air Turn your radio on and glory to share. Turn your lights down low and listen to the master’s radio Get in touch with God, turn your radio on. Her name was Sally, she was just 17 Her name was Sally and oh she was mean. But I really liked her, I liked her a lot. But I didn’t mean to kill her, she was my best friend. I didn’t mean to kill her, I just wanted her to bend. How we sinned on Sundays. I took Sally down to Sunday school. I took Sally and she thought it was cool. We sat in the back row, and read the bible. (Yeah, you bet) But I didn’t mean to kill her, she was my best friend. I didn’t mean to kill her, I just wanted her to bend. How we sinned on Sundays (sorta like this) Took Sally to woodshop, showed her my tools Took Sally to woodshop, she thought it was cool. I said, “hey baby, let me work with my hands.” (yeah sure, but..) I didn’t mean to kill her, she was my best friend. I didn’t mean to kill her, I just wanted her to bend. How we sinned on Sundays Sally was five foot seven I was four foot three. She could play basketball whole lot better than me, But somehow I always won. But I didn’t mean to kill her, she was my best friend. I didn’t mean to kill her, I just wanted her to bend. How we sinned on Sundays

God bless our mobile home God bless our mobile home We take it where we roam, Day or night, it’s all right. We got no lawns to mow, no rent to pay, night or day. God bless our mobile home God bless our mobile home The chances that we take, Put at stake, all we own Got no legal aid, no lemonaide, I’ll never trade. God bless our mobile home God bless our mobile home We bought it on a loan Threw away the old stone. We got no place to go, no where to stay, night or day.

about

In early Spring of 1985, two 22 year old college roommates entered Recording Studio B, in the subterranean depths of the University of Southern California Cinema School. They were there to start recording a project with no apparent destination for a band that didn’t really exist yet. The band would eventually call itself The New Agriculturalists and the album, CORN ROCK, would ignite a three year journey that would take a swing at a wide swath of sonic territory but really never venture too far from that initial concept. It was truly “Corn Rock”: acoustic rock songs with a nod towards country/folk, but also corn as in "corn-pone" – not allowing itself to be taken too seriously and always willing to lampoon anything.

The two founders, guitarist Will Rusch and singer Brad Vanderburg had met as long-haired college freshman three and half years earlier, but had only started experimenting as a musical partnership the previous Fall when Rusch begin to lean-in more on his guitar playing with the the active guidance of fellow computer science major and multi-string instrument guru John Relph. Vanderburg, who had been lead singer of MACHO HAIKU back in his hometown of Dallas, made up lyrics on the spot and sang along. First recording some of these modest experiments on Nagra 1/4" field tape recorder, they eventually entered the tiny, acoustically bone-dry enclosure of Studio B to see what they could achieve with an 8-track recorder. Accompanying them on these late night "studio-tanning" adventures was their roommate Tom 'Dog' Grissom who would run the Soundcraft mixing board and friend Susie Barnet who lent her gorgeously wispy vocal presence on a few tracks.

CORN ROCK was recorded, mixed, and a limited number of hand-pressed cassettes were dubbed within weeks. The dye was cast – The New Agriculturalists were born.
